NEW YORK -- January 16, 2020 -- Smartling, the premier software and translation services company that established the Enterprise Translation Cloud category, today announced record results for its fiscal year ending December 31, 2019. The third quarter of this year was an especially impressive quarter for Smartling, with the onboarding of 48 new enterprise customers.

Year-over-year, Smartling increased the number of customers using its language services offering by 216%. Smartling added more than 100 new customers in 2019, including companies in technology, retail, gaming and more:

  • Bentley Systems
  • Butterfly Network
  • Cloudflare
  • Fiverr
  • Hamilton Beach
  • monday.com
  • Pendo.io
  • Specialized Bicycle

“As brands advance digitally and explore new global footprints, more senior-level discussions are happening around content translation, user experience localization, and the ROI of entering new markets,” said Jack Welde, Smartling’s CEO and co-Founder. “Smartling’s Enterprise Translation Cloud enables companies to simplify the content localization process across devices and platforms to engage global consumers.”

To better serve its expanding customer base, Smartling debuted three new product editions this year: Core, Growth and Enterprise. Each edition was built to satisfy customers at various stages in the localization maturity model and to adapt to the needs of the translation services market.

“The market for global marketing and product translations is growing exponentially,” said Brian O’Reilly, Smartling’s VP of Sales. “Brands are increasingly leveraging professional content translators to create high-impact experiences, and lean on machine translation to account for lower value content. With our new product editions, our services are more closely aligned with the demands of the market. Our team will keep developing top-quality language services products so our expanding customer base can better meet the needs of worldwide consumers.”

This year, Smartling took on the challenge of creating a strong visual representation of translators as the unsung heroes behind the global economy. The Move the World With Words campaign showcased the lives of 12 translators around the world who work with Smartling to produce content for customers. The company compiled these stories into a coffee-table book and launched a corresponding podcast in October with plans for weekly episodes to tell the stories of translators how consumer trends vary between countries, and how those trends impact localization.

The company’s successes have driven considerable growth for its teams worldwide. The division of the Smartling team based in Dublin, Ireland, outgrew its old location and moved into new space to accommodate more team members. The company also increased the size of its international Global Ready Conference™ by 58%.

Smartling finished 2019 with the top rating as the #1 Market Leader for Translation Management Systems by CSA Research and with top rankings by users on G2. The company was also ranked in the top position in G2’s Leader Quadrant for Winter 2020.
