It's coming up to my 18 month at Smartling and I wanted to reflect on one of the most enjoyable times of my career and share some highlights that have stood out to me along the way.
Since Day 1 when I landed in our HQ in NYC to begin my journey at our quarterly training, I quickly learned that I had made the right decision in joining Smartling.
Work Hard
Smartling has incredible people in every department and some of the most committed people I have seen dedicated to their craft.
This place pushes you to achieve your best with the rewards to go with it.
In the last three months alone of 2019, we have trebled the output from SDR since 2018 and on two occasions every single SDR globally hit quota. I’m very proud to be part of a team that is continuously over performing and helping each other succeed.
Ambition
Be ambitious: It’s the common theme that runs throughout the company and one that really attracted me here when interviewing.
I was promoted to Team Lead after 9 months here and voted "Top Quarterly Performer" by my peers in the subsequent months (see cheesy trophy below). There have been too many sales prizes to count on offer for the team!
It’s this kind of atmosphere that fosters the high bar we have set at Smartling.

Positive outlook
In the last 18 months, we have really set out to create the Smartling we want here in Europe. All the early mornings, late nights, travel and deadlines to hit have been worth it. I’ve found that showing up with a positive mindset each day has kept this team performing to it very best.
Sales can be daunting, there can be a lot of uncertainty. However, no matter how stressful the day before was, the one thing that keeps me coming in with such high energy and positivity is the people we have hired here and the atmosphere on the floor.
If I have one piece of advice for anyone joining Sales for the first time or moving to another company, its to make sure you surround yourself with amazing, talented people that want YOU to exceed, the rest will fall into place.
